Adoration
The innocence of youth is incredible to watch. Take these three boys. They wrestle and hit, jump and spit, bite, fight and rough house. (As all boys ought to do. They also wipe up spills, help clean up toys, throw garbage away and take naps!) But then along comes Baby Etta. Watching the tenderness that they use to touch her melts the heart. And the concern they show when she is fussy illustrates how human nature is to ease the suffering of others. As you can see below often they just want to be near her, but when she started to get unhappy Noah tried to give her the Soothie (pacifier). He was not rough and did not shove it in. Just gently held it to her lips. Thank you, Christine, for raising such polite and wonderful children!

"Warning" - Jenny Joseph
"When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go..."
Why wait until you are 50? Etta is ready now!

Zzzzzzzzzzzzz's
Etta has been smiling quite a bit for us the last few weeks. Unfotunately, whenever I get out the camera, she seriously focuses on this alien object and forgets all about smiling. But here is a conglomeration of other fun shots.

Re-roofing #2
Early last week Steve came down and helped Bob put metal roofing on the carport. With that done (in addition to the garage) all of our cars can be fully protected from the weather.

Two months and another first...
This two month picture is late as we were in Montana when Etta actually turned two months old. It is my favorite yet. She seems to be saying, "Look how big I am!" (We think that she is up to 9 pounds, we'll know for sure on Thursday.)

And on Saturday we went to the Moscow Farmer's Market for the first time. Having to drive up from Lewiston and being on a some what short feeding schedule means that we couldn't really take a leisurely stroll. But we did get fresh produce and a bouquet of beautiful flowers. I love Moscow in the summer!

EGG...
...aka Etta Grace's Grandma, Montana Grandma, Grandmother Lenington, Grandma Cindy, Grandma Surley (Bob's favorite). All terms of endearment for my mom. Since I didn't get any pictures of her with Etta at graduation I thought I would dedicate this post to her. Feel free to make up your own captions, it's more fun that way!

Locks of Love
As some of you may already know, I cannot donate blood because of my Factor V (five). That is disappointing to me as I think that blood donation is very important and that if a person is physically able, they should donate as much as possible. So I had to come up with a different way that I could try to help people. So two years ago (when we started talking about this whole baby thing) I decided to start growing my hair out. And that after the baby was born I would donate my hair to Locks of Love. Well, the day finally arrived and I got 14 inches of hair cut off. Erik's girlfriend Macee (next to me in the bottom picture) supplied the style that I wanted, and emotional support at the time.

My pony. (It looks pretty small, but my hair is a little fine and it's wet - notice that it is as long as my forearm.)

Babies I Have Known
The next few posts will all be about our recent family trip to Fort Benton. Stay tuned!
While on our trip we met some different babies. It has been a good lesson on how babies are different.
