Lemmings?

I have been trying to think of a "witty" title for this post for days. And I can't think of anything. I'm sure as you read this you will probably think of ten that I could use, but it's just not in me right now.

Jonah is always very adamant that he is "a big boy! Not a baby! Baby is Baby Etta!" But it is so fun to watch the little boys as Etta is progressing in her own skills. They are not so far removed from crawling that they can't just throw themselves down and join in her fun.

Of course there was a point when all three of them were facing the door, but I can't seem to get my camera fast enough.

Here are the "big" boys showing baby Etta how to crawl.

Toofers

Here you go Uncle Erik. Pictures of Etta's teeth.

She does smile, but not usually big enough to get a picture of all four teeth. Sometimes she just gets too serious when I get the camera out. Erik's suggestion to overcome this problem was to "just hold her lips back". Tried that - here are the results...

9th Month Annibirthery

Here we are to nine months. Now Etta has been out in the "real world" for almost as long as she was growing inside.

[Side note - this kind of reminds me of a story involving Erik. We had gotten our dog "Bud" before Erik was born. It was kind of a joke that we had had the dog longer than we had Erik. The day after Bud passed away Erik got up in the morning and said, "Well, now you've had me longer than you had Bud!" My mom didn't have the heart to tell him that his math wasn't quite right...]

But back to Princess Etta Grace!

Weight: 18 lbs. 14 oz. = 51%
Height: 28 in. = 69%
Head Circum. 44.5 cent. = 68%

Now where does she get that big head of hers?

We are having a ton of fun. She is exploring other types of crawls besides just army crawl. But when she is in a hurry her tummy hits the floor and away she squirms! Four teeth are in (pictures to follow tomorrow) and she has started waving. It seems like it is more to get attention than to communicate anything!

Favorite food? Beets
Least favorite food? Anything green. And chicken isn't going well either...

But she is trying new things and usually it is pretty fun to feed her. Drinking from a big girl cup is going pretty well too. Sometimes she gets a little extra and the surprise causes her to drop the cup. But we're just using water so it's not a big deal. Doctors orders yesterday was no bottle after one year, so we have three months to get it perfected.

This morning at choir she pulled herself up two of the short steps in Bob's classroom and went on her merry way. And although she still can't sit up by herself she can really move it move it!

And one of most favorite toys is the little player piano that Grandma Cathy has at her house. It is just Etta's size and she goes to town while playing. Even more than on a "real" piano. She is getting pretty good at pulling herself up to play that too.

Here are a few pics from our photo shoot today.

This is a fun toy. Maybe I'll lay here for a few minutes.

That's it. Photo shoot over. I'm outta here.

See, I just like to sit and enjoy the world. Aren't I cute?

Trio of Talent (Part I)

Now presenting....

Etta Grace with the Amazing Jorgens Brothers!

They are going to be BIG!

Trio of Talent (Part II)

So getting that shot was pretty hard and a little nerve wracking. While Etta has been sitting up really well for quite some time she still likes to throw her head back and just flop off of things. So I asked The Little Mommy, I mean Noah, to hold his arm behind Baby Etta so that she wouldn't fall. He did. She did. And thankfully she did not fall off the bench because he is very strong!

Green stuff...seriously?

Etta has not liked anything green that I have tried to give her to eat. Green beans? Nope. Avocado? Nope. Sweet peas? Nope. I know that it takes up to ten times to get a child to "like" something so I'm not giving up. But I think that her expression pretty much says it all...
