Deary: Part II

Grandpa Steve built a new outhouse to have up at Deary. We don't have a hole drilled yet, but Etta need to go #1 before we left for the day so she got to "break in" the new potty.
Little big, but she'll grow in to it in no time!

Getting some help from Grandma.

Finishing up on her own.
Off to bigger and better adventures.

Deary: Part I

A few weekends ago we headed up to Deary for an afternoon. I am hoping that we get to spend a lot of time there this summer.
Mae really was having a good time contrary to this expression. She is at an awkward though. She wants to be where everyone is and do everthing that everyone else is doing, but just isn't quite old enough. And still slightly uncoordinated. Not a good combo when there is fire around.

But they are getting to the point of playing together. Even though Mae sometimes need to have some extra assistance.

Bucket Head

Stroke of luck #1 - This bucket fit perfectly on Mae's head.

Thanks for the shirt Aunt Molly! It's super cute and comfortable.

Stroke of luck #2 - Grandma Cathy had washed it just before we got there.
Mae really likes Riley, and Riley, well, Riley will put up with Mae mostly. They are just the right size for each other.
And yes, that is a margarita that Great Grandma Barb was drinking. Hey, it was Mother's Day. She deserved it! (Have you met her kids?! Jk, Jk, Jk...)

Mother's Day

For Mother's Day this year Bob took Etta to a family lunch while I stayed home with Mae - and she napped. I made dinner to take up to Steve & Cathy's for later and Bob made the pie. That way I had some alone time and got to eat everything I wanted for the special day.

Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of me with my kids...um....meant to...didn't. But I did get a couple of good ones.

Great Grandma Barb. Since Grandpa Lynn has passed away I am going to try extra hard to get pictures of her with the girls. I usually got some of the four of them together, but I don't want to let the chances slip away. But what was her comment after this pic? "I hope that you didn't get my arms!"

Reading with Grandma Cathy. Mae is getting a bit better about sitting still and listening to stories but...well, she isn't even two yet!

But the best gift of all? Daddy playing box racer. Not the most fun game in the world...

You can't tell from the first shot, but they love this game. I like how my new camera got the suggestion of action but still kept them clear.

Mae's 1st Spill

About two weeks ago Mae took her first major spill on the concrete out back. This picture doesn't really do it justice, but she scraped a chunk out of her nose, peeled from under her nose to her lip and landed on her forehead. And since she is way more of a dare devil than Etta ever was I'm expecting this is just the beginning.

Post Birthday Fun

The day after Etta's birthday my mom, Etta & I headed to the LC campus to take in Art Under the Elms. We had walked through Friday morning and Etta noticed that they were getting ready to set up some jumpy rides. I asked if she would want to go on them later. Her response? "I'm not sure about that". But she got brave, and for the 1st time ever decided to do all three jumpy rides.

Waiting in line for the big, blue dolphin slide.

Holding up the line at the big, blue dolphin slide.

Success!!

I didn't take any pictures of the regular old jumpy castle as it's not very picture friendly.

But then on to the "Caterpillar". There was more to this jumpy ride, but I was able to try out my sport setting on my camera to get actions shots of her coming down the final slide.

She had a lot of fun!! Sunday evening I asked her, "Did you have a good weekend?"

She replied, "I had a tired weekend!"

She then proceeded to take a two and a half hour nap Monday afternoon. Fun was had by all.

Fire Station!

Aunt Molly & Uncle Jim got Etta a fire station for her birthday. Sunday morning I assisted Grandpa Eddy with assembly. It is so neat! But the best part? There are TWO fire fighters for our two little girls. They have played together pretty well so far.

Mae shows Grandpa how to put the fireman to bed.

Birthday Party

We had Etta's birthday party at Hell's Gate State Park here in Lewiston. The evening was overcast, it was Art Under the Elms for the Dogwood Festival and the Asotin County Fair. Needless to say, we had the place to ourselves. And it was perfect!

There is a covered picnic area, play equipment, a charcoal grill and beach all within about 50 feet of each other. We got an annual pass and will hopefully be going often this summer.

Thanks to Miss Debbie for letting me use the Cricut while in Fort Benton. The banners turned out great!!

The whole crew. Etta, Ronan, Paxton, Porter and Grey. And Mae being an individual. It was just the right size. The Girls were there too. No proof though...

And even though it wasn't her birthday this picture was just too cute not to put on.

My mom has more pics. On  Face Book. Sorry to those of you who don't have access...

School Birthday Treat

Etta decided that she wanted a "Nemo" party this year. I am not super great at themes, but did my best.

On to Pinterest I went. Found "Fish Bowl Jello" and thought that would be great to take to share with Etta's boys at school. While being pretty visibly impressive to the 5 & 6 year olds, it left something to be desired after a few bites. I thought it was pretty good myself, but think that all of the different textures didn't really appeal to them.

But Etta got to help and it was fun.

After I poked some of the Swedish fish down into the Jello I was thinking that you wouldn't be able to see them very well.

So I sprinkled some on the top.

And then realized that it looked like dead fish floating.

Sigh.

She's only 4, right?

Four!

Etta is 4!! Plus 4 days by now. But it was a great weekend! More to follow...
